please explain how it works without an exterior duct to exhaust through. It notes "hidden louvers on top", but that is where it is attached flush to bottom of the cabinet.
Our existing Nutone/Mercury model has vents on the front where the exhaust goes.
It notes non-duct capable, with "conversion built-in", but what does the conversion require as the Installation Guide doesn't describe that.
It notes about charcoal filters for non-duct. Do you have to use the replacement filters with non-duct operation, and typical time frame that the filters last.
Thank you for your question on the model AVSF136SS range hood. The AVSF136SS is designed to be installed underneath a 12 inch deep cabinet. When installed properly the unit can be installed as a ducted or non-ducted unit. For non-ducted installations you need to refer to page 10 of the installation instructions. You need to remove 3 screws holding the recirculation cover plate and remove the plate. You will then have a grille on top of the hood where the air can recirculate back into the room. We recommend using the non-duct charcoal filters to help eliminate odors. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 888-336-6151 if you need further assistance.
