Does it have to be hardwired or can you attach a power cord to plug into a standard outlet?
Power cord is not included. So, you can do it either way. In my case, there was already a standard outlet so I installed a cord with a plug end and plugged it in. I could have removed the outlet and hardwired it if I had wanted to, but it is simply up to you the consumer to connect it as you wish.

How does this match the GE slate appliances?
GE doesn't make a 36" under cabinet range hood in slate. We are hoping this matches and can't wait for it to be available to see.
Thank you for your question on the AVSF136BLS range hood. The Black Stainless Steel is a different finish than Slate. We do offer hoods in Slate which are a match for the GE Slate appliances. We currently only offer two hoods that are available in Slate, but they only come in a 30" width. The Black Stainless Steel and Slate finishes are very similar. The Black Stainless is coated with a high-gloss finish. The Slate is a satin finish and is more of a matte look. I purchased this beautiful Nutone Manta 30" Range Hood, Model AVSF130BL, and it was installed by Home Depot, where I purchased it. This has to be a non-Vented installation, because we are in a lo-rise 2 story condo building, on the ground floor, and there is no external venting for the range. On the top of the installed Vent Hood, there is a small panel about 6" x 3" approximately, that is just in front of the cabinet doors. This panel was left on, by the installers. Should it have been removed, for this type of installation. If so, how do I get to the screws to remove it, and is there anything else I should look for, to make sure the installation was done correctly. As currently installed, the fan in the center pulls in air, and then blows it out underneath the unit, on the sides. That doesn't seem correct, to me. Also, I purchased two HPF30 (for Type XC) Filters, because the package label didn't indicate that there were two filters inside, or refer to it as being a "set" of filters, and the instruction sheet was place backward in the sealed package, so all I could see was Steps 5 and after, which were not help at all in figuring out if I had purchased the right filter, and how to go about attaching them to the existing metal filter, or removing that and replacing it with the charcoal filters. I did not see any metal clips, as shown in the photo on your website, but they may be hidden somewhere in the package, perhaps behind the instruction sheet, or the product label. I did not want to open the package, until I was sure that the Vent Hood was installed properly, and that we had bought the correct charcoal filters. Thanks for a speedy reply, we will be moving into our new condo in a few weeks. I am sending you pictures of my Vent Hood installation and the filters that I bought, for possible product/installation instructions improvement purposes. Thank you, SteveC, Cape Coral FL 33914.
Thank you for your question. If installed in a non-ducted application, remove the 3 screws retaining the recirculation cover plate to the hood. Discard this plate with its screws. Purchase two non-ducted filters from your local distributor or retailer, model number HPF30 (Type XC), or part number 99010430-002. You can also purchase these filters directly from our website under the Shop for Parts link or by contacting Customer Service at 888-336-3948. The non-ducted filter clips will be included in the package when you purchase the non-ducted filters. For further assistance, you may contact Nutone Technical Support at 888-336-6151.
