Rated 5 out of 5 by from great light the fan took care of 2 problems in the 2nd bath, added the light to brighten up the bathroom and replaced a fan that the kids never turned on because it was too loud.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it I like the performance of this fan. It replaced a NuTone that I'd had a lot of problems with over the years; the motor seizing up and the plastic blower shaft clips malfunctioning causing the blower to loosen up and jam the motor. I had to replace them both too many times. The one minor thing about this new one is that I'd like it to be a bit more powerful, more CFMs. But it works well, and looks great and is very quiet-running. I'm knocking on wood right now... Lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful It is not only beautiful, but it is efficient! The room humidity level escapes very quickly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LOUD!! This is supposed to be a quiet fan; that's part of why I bought it. It's certainly not quiet in my bathroom. It may be that it achieves harmonic resonance and it's "just one of those things", but anyone who's ever hummed in the shower knows when you hit a certain pitch, the surrounding shower (walls/doors) seem to amplify that tone. Well, this fan has found that tone in my tiled shower. One corner of the shower is so loud it makes my ears pop.

  • Do you have a hanger bar kit for installing/mounting to I joists

    Asked by: john
In order to mount the 742RBNT, with I joist construction, you will need to install a “spacer” next to the existing I joist. Typically, this will be a piece of 6” x 2” wood. This type of installation is shown in the installation instructions. If you would care to see this, it is available on our website at www.nutone.com

Do you offer a decorative light fixture like this 742BNT that is compatible with an existing 763 model?

I have 3 763's that I would love to convert to a decorative light/fan fixture like the 742, but I want it to be an easy conversion that will fit in the preexisting 9"x9" housing. If you don't have any, the question is "why not?" It seems like your company could make a nice profit by having interchangeable designs that fit more than 1 housing. Let me know.
    Asked by: Joe
Thank you for your question on the model 763 exhaust fan/light. The only parts available for the 763 would be the original replacement parts. There is no decorative fixture that can be placed on the 763 housing. If you want the decorative unit, you would need to totally remove the 763 from the ceiling and install one of the decorative models.

what is the wattage or amp rating of the fan motor

What switch would you use with the fan motor, A customer wants to use a 2.5 Amp Lutron switch because it comes in biscuit color.. I would suppose the fan would pull more than that?
