  • 9417DN is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not enough cfm, motor burns out. I had one originally installed in my bathroom. It didn't remove humidity sufficiently, and the motor eventually burned out. Foolishly, I bought another one from my local plumber and installed it myself. The motor recently burned out again. It just buzzes, so now I have to find a better replacement. I talked to an electrician and he told me 70 cfm is not enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fan - on the louder side though If you're looking for a soft, quiet hush fan, this is not it. But if you're looking for an effective fan that lasts for years, this may be what you're looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had this for 8 years and it's still running great. Re-insulating our ceiling with blown-in cellulose and was questioned about safety of contact of insulation with fan box in attic. Understand the unit is IC (insulation contact) rated which is excellent. Provides warm heat when stepping outside shower in cool bathroom. Easy installation. Very happy with the Technical Support.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm not happy with the fan. Not happy because I think the fan motor has a bad bearing. IT changes speed and is annoyingly nosy. I'm ready to rip it out and buy something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fan Light Combo This is a great little fan/heat light combo. Delivery was a little slow (took a little over a week) -- maybe A...zon and others spoil me :) but it was delivered as promised. Shipped in original box, but that was more than sufficient to protect the unit. Fairly easy installation in my remodel project. The fan noise is as advertised -- not silent, but not at all objectionable. Just a pleasant whosh sound rather than the sound of the really cheap fans that grate on your nerves. For me, the price was good, delivery was reasonable and the fan is excellent. Definitely love the infrared bulb on cool winter mornings -- just takes the chill off as you dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nutone Fan Heater review Nice unit. Easy to install. Wiring configuration allows you to wire the exhaust fan control independent from the heat lamp. Good quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Out Great We were looking for a compact unit that was both a fan and a heat lamp and this unit fit the bill. It appeared to be well designed, it installed easily, and the fan is much quieter than we expected. Aside from that it was well priced.

  • The fan works separate from the heat lamp can you install a timer switch on it for the fan

    Asked by: Doug
I have done that, the caution is the fan turns off and the heat lamps are on, unit heats up and over temp sensor kick in the fan, but do not trust this, you do not want a fire

Model 9417DN: Vent fan has stopped working. Can I replace just the fan motor without replacing the whole unit? Bulb heater works.

Vent & Heat operate together - Light separately

Figure for 9427P wiring option above shows connection to a single Dual Control switch. Can you provide instructions for connection to existing two switch junction box - switch for light and separate switch for vent & heat?
    Asked by: Woodsman
Our electrician was able to easily do this. Separate switch for heat and a a separate switch for fan with light. Works well and now 8 years old.

How close to the wall / cabinets can this be mounted?

When mounting this in the ceiling how far from the wall or cabinet faces does it need to be?
    Asked by: Eric
Thank you for your question on the model 9417DN single heat lamp/exhaust fan. It is recommended that you keep the 9417DN at least six inches away from a side wall or cabinet face. If you can keep it a foot away, that would be even better.

    Install on 2 different circuits?

Is it possible to install the 9417DN on two different circuits, one for the vent and one for the light? If so, how would the neutral wires be connected? Remodeling a bathroom that never had a vent. Installing a new 20 amp circuit to the bathroom, but would like the vent to come on with the same switch that controls the existing light inside the shower that is on a 15 amp circuit. The heat lamp will be on the new 20 amp circuit controlled by a timer switch.
    Asked by: Adam
Thank you for your question on the model 9417DN single heat lamp bulb/exhaust fan. With the 9417DN only having a single white neutral wire and a thermal protector safety device, we would suggest using a single power source for both functions.
