  • ARN80 is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am very pleased with this product. Six months ago, I had a bathroom completely renovated. It was original to my 50-year-old house, and there were instances in which my contractor had to be creative in making new products work in an older structure. I researched fixtures, tiles, etc before purchasing, but I had done minimal research on vent-fans. One day, my assignment was to go buy a vent-fan because "This noise HAS to go!" Armed with measurements, I went to my local home improvement store, and purchased the above model, keeping my fingers crossed that it would fit my needs and not have to be returned. Everything fit, installation was easy, it has a nice outward appearance, and IT RUNS QUIETLY!! I am a very satisfied customer. Many thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in noice level. The reason I bought this fan was based on its rating of 2.0 Sones. is just as noisy as the vintage fan I replaced. It exhausts okay but the noise level in a small bathroom (50 sq ft) with a tile floor is unacceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product The ARN80 I purchased is a replacement for the original bathroom exhaust fan which was 28 yrs old. The ARN80 is quiet and it pulls most of the moisture out before it covers the walls and mirrors. It was easy to install, give yourself at least 2 or 3 hours. I replaced the 3" vent pipe with 4" vent piping, which took a little more time. Attic access is not required, but helpful if your planning on replacing the vent pipe. This is the second ARN80 I installed in the last 2 months. Great product / Great buy. Home Depot has all the accessories needed for a DIY project, and all the accessories are in the same isle as the exhaust fans. When buying, pay close attention to the CFM's and Sound level.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fan is not as quiet as advertised. This fan in the store was billed as quiet, but it rattles and is noisier than my old fan that I replaced. This fan was installed by a contractor so not installed incorrectly. Very disappointing.

  • What are some of the trouble shooting items if the fan does not work when installed

There is power to the unit, but when the internal plug in inserted wire assembly the fan does not turn or make any noise.
    Asked by: Fan Man
Thank you for your question. You can check the motor by plugging it into a wall outlet or extension cord. If you motor does not work, you know it’s the motor. You can also check the voltage on the wire panel assembly receptacle. For further assistance, contact Technical Support at 888-336-6151.

Whatbis the little round cylinder thing hanging loose inside the fan

    Asked by: Hvacyech4994
Thank you for your question on the model ARN80 exhaust fan. The round cylinder thing you are referring to is a starting capacitor for the motor.

How long can the duct be? I want to vent out the side of the house about 14'

    Asked by: bathfan
Thank you for your question on the model ARN80 exhaust fan. The ARN80 can handle up to 23 feet of four inch, straight rigid duct work. You would need to reduce that distance by four feet for every elbow installed.

The grille spring will pop off on one side or the other .

When the grille gets within one inch of the ceiling one side comes off. One problem is the electrical box is in the way of the spring but I do not think that is whats causing this.

is there a 120 cfm fan motor assembly that can be swapped with the arn80 fan assembly?

the exhaust for the existing fan is only 3 inches in diameter. I don't think the arn80 can exhaust the air fast enough. it would be really hard to put in new duct work.
    Asked by: bob b.
Thank you for your question. No, you cannot add a more powerful motor to your ARN80 while connected to 3” duct work. The ARN80 requires a minimum of 4” round duct work to operate appropriately. For more information, contact Broan-Nutone Technical Support at 888-336-6151.
