  • Bulb heaters are a great source for energy-saving warmth and instant comfort – without ever having to touch your central thermostat. Quiet, highly efficient blower wheels, along with polymeric dampers that prevent backdrafts and eliminate mechanical noise, are just two basic reasons why this bulb heater/fan can be the perfect answer to a smaller bath, up to 63 square feet, and the perfect touch of warmth plus ventilation.

    • Two 250-watt R40 or BR40 size infrared bulbs (not included) provide a total of 500 watts of heat and are required to ensure the warmth you expect
    • Fan and heater can operate independently or together giving you the choice of warmth and ventilation you require, and complete control over your own comfort
    • Two-function control (sold separately) is required for proper operation; available through nutone
    • Attractive white polymeric grille is a suitable match for any décor, no matter how many times you change the paint color
    • Compact steel housings with adjustable mounting brackets have keyhole slots that span up to 24”, making this a sure fit no matter what distance you find between joists, assisting ease of installation

  • 9427P is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not enough cfm, motor burns out. I had one originally installed in my bathroom. It didn't remove humidity sufficiently, and the motor eventually burned out. Foolishly, I bought another one from my local plumber and installed it myself. The motor recently burned out again. It just buzzes, so now I have to find a better replacement. I talked to an electrician and he told me 70 cfm is not enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fan - on the louder side though If you're looking for a soft, quiet hush fan, this is not it. But if you're looking for an effective fan that lasts for years, this may be what you're looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had this for 8 years and it's still running great. Re-insulating our ceiling with blown-in cellulose and was questioned about safety of contact of insulation with fan box in attic. Understand the unit is IC (insulation contact) rated which is excellent. Provides warm heat when stepping outside shower in cool bathroom. Easy installation. Very happy with the Technical Support.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm not happy with the fan. Not happy because I think the fan motor has a bad bearing. IT changes speed and is annoyingly nosy. I'm ready to rip it out and buy something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from saves time & money The product is perfect for replacing an older burned out product in the ceiling. Just replace the internals of the old with the internals of this new product & your done in 15 min. Tried the other route of replacing the complete unit with a new one & it makes no sense! product is a good product & have never had any problems with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from quality worse I agree with others. I had one for 20 years and the motor burned out. Cheaper to by the whole unit instead of motor. The new one was bigger with a smaller grille. Insulation came raining down from the attic. The whole thing shook and was loud. I finally sealed around it and shimmed it tight. 2 years later the motor burned out. It never drew any air out. That's it. I'm putting an inline fan in. For 90$ it has 120 CFM. The broan unit only had 70cfm.

  • Vent & Heat operate together - Light separately

Figure for 9427P wiring option above shows connection to a single Dual Control switch. Can you provide instructions for connection to existing two switch junction box - switch for light and separate switch for vent & heat?
    Asked by: Woodsman
Our electrician was able to easily do this. Separate switch for heat and a a separate switch for fan with light. Works well and now 8 years old.

Replacement motor for my 9427N heater fan.

I have a NuTone 9427N heater fan in our bath. I need to replace the vent fan motor. I can not find any info on the 9427N. I see parts for the 9427 and 9427P, but nothing for the "N". Will the motor for the other 9427s' work in my "N" model? Thanks, Don.

    Small cooling fan on 9427N

I have a 9427N heater/fan unit. The small cooling fan (#8 on the parts drawing) has failed, and the online form does not allow this part to be ordered. Is the part available? Alternatively, can I just remove the defective fan from my 9427N and continue to use the unit safely? The 9427P does not use this fan, even though it uses the same bulbs as the 9427N. Does that mean you've determined that the fan isn't really necessary?
    Asked by: rbneil
Thank you for your question on the model 9427N two bulb radiant heater/exhaust fan. The 9427N was designed to use the cooling fan to keep the inside of the housing cooled down. The motor for the cooling fan is no longer available and we do not recommend using the unit without it. You would need to completely remove the 9427N from the ceiling and replace it with another unit. The 9427P is designed different from the 9427N and uses the exhaust fan to cool down the inside of the housing when the heat gets too high. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 888-336-6151 for further assistance.

    Can I upgrade to a 9427P?

I have a NuTone single heat lamp/exhaust fan unit installed in 2008. It may be model 9417DN. Can I upgrade to a double heat lamp/exhaust fan unit model 9427P? We could use additional heat output. Can I use the existing electrical circuit for the 9427P? It does not seem to be a dedicated circuit. I understand the ceiling opening will have to be enlarged to accommodate the larger unit. Thanks for your assistance.

Thank you for your question on the model 9427P dual heat lamp/exhaust fan. You should not have any problem upgrading from a single heat lamp/exhaust fan unit to a double. You should also be able to use the same wiring.
