Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just So-So Bell is nice looking. But all downhill from there. The tone is tinny and flat. During install, the workman discovered a part was missing. Called manufacturer who wouldn't send. He said, I had to uninstall unit, send it back and then would then send a new unit. This would cost me hundreds in labor. After argument, they finally relented and sent the part. This bell was not inexpensive and I probably wouldn't buy it, had I to do it over again. (Transformer not included and costs extra). Usually don't give bad reviews but had to in this case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with my Purchase The NuTone LA310CY 4- or 8-note door chime is wonderful! The product was received promptly and packed to ensure safe receipt. The wood tone is true to color and the chimes are pleasant to the ear. I had a licensed electrician install my chimes to replace an existing standard door bell. The chimes wouldn't work properly and the instructions were vague when it came to trouble shooting. My electrician changed out the transformer and re-arranged wiring several times to no avail. The chimes would not run through the sequence unless the door bell was pushed continually until the chimes completed--a single push of the door button would result in only a single tone. My electrician finally called the manufacturer and was told it must be the batteries we installed --- although new, they were old and weak. We took the batteries out completely and the door chimes worked fine.

  • the chime I want to connect in the basement is just a basic 2 note 2 door chime. Is there a way to connect this to the main chime?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model LA310CY door chime. To attach a two note chime to the LA310CY, you would need to wire it in the second wiring configuration using the two nine volt batteries. You would then wire terminal number one of the LA310 to the “Trans” terminal of the two note chime. You would also connect the “F” terminal of the LA310 to the “F” or “Front” terminal of the two note chime and the “R” terminal of the LA310 to the “R” or “Rear” terminal of the two note chime.

Description says it doesn't need batteries, but the installation guide says batteries may be needed. Does this unit require batteries?

Thank you for your question on the model LA310CY door chime. Depending on how your current door chime wires are run, there is a possibility that you would need to use batteries for proper operation of this chime. If you are just now running the door chime wires, you should wire it as per the “Recommended New Construction Wiring” if you do not want to use batteries.

I have the LA310CY model. When 4 notes are selected, only 3 play, and when 8 notes are selected, only 5 play. Any suggestions?

I have the C905 transformer, and I am replacing an existing 2 note chime. It is wired by the instructions.

Can I add an extra chime in the basement.

I have tried to add an extra unit to the basement but I either get a repeating chime on this unit or the one in basement humms. Is it possible to wire an extra chime and how?

Thank you for your question on the model LA310CY wired door chime. The only way to connect two of the LA310CY chimes together is to use the alternate wiring instructions listed as “Replacing existing 2-note chime”. You wire the first chime this way and connect terminal 1 from the first chime to terminal 1 of the second chime. You would also connect the “F”, “S” and “R” terminals from the first chime to the second chime, depending on how many push buttons you have connected to the first chime.
