    • 765HL is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nu Tone heater problems I've also had this unit installed and the heater went out prematurely also like other reviewers commented . All other components are still working, but without the heater, one comes out of a warm shower to have a cold air blower freeze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good product I bought from Home Depot and installed them by myself. One fixture : QT 300 I had to eorder from NU TONE and pick it up at Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Replaced an older Nutone unit remodeling our master bathroom. Basic construction of the new units is pretty much the same had to make the opening a little bigger is all everything else is the same as it was 40 years age which was great to see something hasn't change much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works well The installation of this heater/vent/light was fairly easy. It was installed in an unheated bathroom. The 765HL heater/vent has been a great replacement for the original wall heater (long since removed). Wiring of the heater and vent function is via a single pole double throw switch that is routed through a timer. This allows the user, a stroke patient, to make the selection of function without the fear of leaving the unit on unattended. The light is a LED bulb and is a good night light with low cost. The exhaust vent was routed to an outside vent and removes moisture from the bathroom rapidly and quietly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The directional control for the heat is a great feature. This product is a replacement for a similar 10 year old unit. I appreciate the quietness of operation compared to the existing unit. I also like the directional control for the heater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good, but noisy All features work well, but the exhaust fan is very noisy. The heating unit is especially good. I would recommend the product with the caution about the excess noise of the exhaust.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heater failure The heater in this unit failed after a very short time of use. The fan was not installed immediately after purchase, so the one year warranty expired before the fan was put in service. I purchased a new heater element from Nutone and it failed after less than an hour of use. The exhaust temp is well in excess of the thermal fuse rating for this device. The thermal fuse is what protects against an overtemp situation and will burn out if it's temperature rating is exceeded for very long. The fuse in this unit's heater is rated at 110 deg. C (230 deg. F) at 1500 watts, while the exhaust temperature is in excess of 300 deg. F. I don't know if this is a design flaw, but according to the other comments, I am not the only person to experience this problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features all in one product. I am so anxious to get this installed. Our bathroom remodel has been delayed a couple of weeks due to illness.

    • Our nutone 765hl-a works but when I turn the heater on it makes a loud noise as it throttles up and then hums. What can I do to get rid of this noise?

The unit is 3 years old.
      Asked by: Mark
Thank you for your question on the model 756HL. It really depends on the type of hum that you are hearing. It could be motor, blower or mounting related. I would suspect that something in the mounting of the unit is not tight, so I would check that first. If you need further assistance, please contact our Technical Support group at 888-336-6151. You can also check the "dealer search", at the top of our website homepage, to see if there is a NuTone service center in your area, that could provide service,

how do I remove the grill for cleaning?

how do I remove the grill for cleaning?
      Asked by: rcb
Thank you for your question on the model 765HL exhaust fan/heater/light. To remove the grille for cleaning you first remove the light lens from grille by inserting a small flat-bladed screwdriver between the grille and lens on one side of the light lens and carefully prying the lens out. After you remove the light bulb, you will see a nut in the top of the reflector. Remove that nut to take the grille down from the ceiling. You will need to reach up inside the unit housing to unplug the light socket. The installation instructions are available for download from our web site if you need further assistance.

765HL gives off cold air after being on for a while WhY?

Is there some reason for the heater to shut off and give off cold air ? Is there or are there settings I am not aware of ...that may be controlling this?? Is there a user or operators manual available for this product.?
      Asked by: Delphine
Thank you for your question on the model 765HL exhaust fan/heater/light. There should be no reason for the heater to cycle between blowing hot air and cold air. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 888-336-6151 for assistance.

Does drywall have to be down for retrofit

It seems as though the hangers cannot be positioned and nailed in without drywall removed or topside access.
      Asked by: ryan
Thank you for your question. The 765 series and the hanger bars associated with it are made for new construction. If there is no access from above (attic, etc.), it will be difficult to install this unit (wiring, duct work, etc.) without opening the ceiling somewhat larger than the rough opening size of the housing. If you think that our Technical Support group could be of further assistance, please contact them at 888-336-6151.

Has the 765HFL heater problem been corrected?

Many reviews state the heater will not last.
      Asked by: Bill
Thank you for your question on the model 765HL exhaust fan/heater/light. Early in the manufacture of the 765HL we received some bad motors and that caused the heater to burn out. That problem has been corrected and when used as designed (for supplemental heat) the unit should give good performance.
