Does this muffler lower the suction power of the vacuum?

I am presently venting my c.v. into a sump-pit(above the water level). It obviously wasn't the best option judging by the fine dust near this area. I am going to change the vent to thee outside and am concerned about the noise to my neighbors. I do not want to loose suction. I would also be incorporating a wall cap. Thanks, Al

Thank you for your question on the central vacuum system. The model 392 muffler will not affect the suction power of the unit. It just lowers the sound going out the exhaust pipe.

How many decibels overall does this muffler take off and what is the pressure range it can handle?

    Asked by: Andrew
Thank you for your question on the model 392 central cleaning system muffler. We do not have a rating for the amount of noise it takes from the central cleaning system exhaust. It will work on all of our central cleaning systems and will help reduce the noise that gets vented to the outside. It will not reduce any of the noise from the main canister, inside the house.

Can this muffler be used to eliminating having to run the exhaust outside the living space? If not, what can be utilized to accomplish this?

At present the central vacuum system is being exhausted into the attic space of my home and with temperatures in the single numbers I am concerned with exhausting hot moist air into the attic space. Please note the system was installed 38 years ago when exhausting into an attic space was considered acceptable. My Nutone central vacuum unit is two years old.

Thank you for your question on the model 392 central cleaning system muffler. The 392 is used to help quiet the noise that would go outside through the exhaust system. Since there is a very fine dust that gets through the internal filter system of the main canister, we always recommend venting the exhaust completely outside.
