Rated 4 out of 5 by from can't imagine not having heat in my bathroom vent comes in handy, bathroom off kitchen. good for smoke control. my house is over 100 years old, has lots of drafts in winter and is located just outside Boston. I have a timer on my unit and 15 minutes will bring room temp up to 75-80 degrees. would like to see a better motor with ball bearings and a better balanced blower wheel for vibrations. this unit is 4 years old and the one before that was 15 yrs. old. and I'll get another one if necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted only 2 years Fan motor vibrates loudly and the heater over heats and switches off in less than 30 seconds. Have given up after trying to reduce the vibration by installing rubber washers to deaden the vibration. Could have lived without the heater, but the noise is loud and annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still in use after 25 years We have had this installed for over 25 years. We now need to replace the ventilation fan. Should last much longer. Very good buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from useless the heater side of the vent gets so hot that it automatically switches off after 30 seconds. not sure why they are selling a product that blatantly doesnt work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works The heater is great. The fan cage for the vent fan is light weight so it makes too much noise when the vent fan is on. I was ready to return it after installing but fortunately, I had a small vice grip that I secured on the fan cage and this reduced the rattle when the fan runs. The decorative cover for the unit could look much nicer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted This unit replaced a 35-year old Nutone Heat-a Ventlite. The most important part of the service was the excellent telephone help I received to find the right-sized unit with the proper connections to the existing electrical and sheetmetal ducts. The unit fits perfectly and is operating well. This is a five-star product with five-star service. I received the unit in two days from when I placed the order with free shipping.

  • Wall switch for both Heat and Fan?

For the 2 independant wall switches.(fan and heat) If the fan is on and heat off, does it operate as a ventilation fan taking moisture out of the bathroom? If the heat is on and fan off, is there another fan to force heat down? If both heat and fan are on, does it act as ventilation or as forced heat down? Is there only 1 fan or 2. One for ventilation and one for forced heat?

Is there a maximum distance that the ducting can be run? Is there any problems with using elbows in the vent ducting?

    Asked by: BruceH
Thank you for your question on the model number 9905 exhaust fan/heater. The 9905 will handle up to 29 feet of straight, four inch, rigid duct work. You would need to reduce that distance by four feet for every elbow in the duct work system.
