    Rated 1 out of 5 by from parts not available I built a new house 10 years ago and had a VX1000 power unit installed. Within the first year and a half the power unit had to be replaced twice. The bags they sent were different and had to be supported in the lower part of the unit. They should not have been sent with the unit. When the unit failed for the third time I went to a different brand. No problems and it has been about 5 years. Now when I need attachment parts, some of the parts I need are no longer available. What good is that? I consider it total junk if you sell something and can't support if with parts for any length of time. What is the expected life span of this product? DO NO RECOMMEND.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor warranty. The warranty is worthless without the receipt. I bought one unit and it died just after the warranty expired, so I paid full price for the second one. We misplaced the receipt, and even though they told me the serial number on the unit proves it is still covered, they will not honor it. Buy at your own risk!

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Central Vacuum Our VX1000 was installed in our new 5500 sqft house in 2008. I bought and 60ft garage hose for cleaning the garage and it is wonderful. The vacuum is very powerful and since the vacuum is inside the garage, the noise level is acceptable. The vacuum strength level can be adjusted at the hose handle, which is very useful because the vacuum is so strong it can otherwise overpower the object you're cleaning and even draw in things untended. It has performed flawlessly until now, 2018. It seems the low-voltage circuit that is wired to every "hose outlet" has a failed (a low-voltage relay). The relay is no doubt inexpensive whereas the entire circuit board (which very likely is OK) costs Consequently the unit will not stop unless we run out in the garage and turn it off. I've searched for a new relay only, but can only find the entire circuit board at $220.00 plus tax and shipping.

The unit arrived promptly, installation was a breeze but after a week I had some issues. Contacted NuTone customer support and the problem was resolved quickly to my satisfaction. Customer support was exceptional - very happy with my choice.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6 years and still going great I was hesitant first to buy this brand, known that is made in China. But with my limited budget at that time I took the plunge. I don't regret that decision at all and actually I could not be happier even if I went with a more known and expensive brand. The machine is loud (very loud), but I have it in my garage, so the noise is dampened a little. What I'm impressed about is the performance and the customer service. The performance does not degrade even after the bag is full, it simply keeps going and going as if the bag is just been installed. The suction power is unbelievable. I did the installation myself which is very easy and any one with basic common sense can do. I hired an electrician to run the 220V needed for this unit. It looks I hired an unqualified electrician because he connected the wire somehow incorrectly and the vacuum refused to start so I thought there's something wrong with machine itself and I called customer service and told them the machine is defective. They just asked me to provide a copy of a receipt and I got a replacement unit shipped to my door in 2 days. Obviously the other unit did not start either, so I called a another real electrician this time, who just fixed the connection at my wall switch and the vacuum started immediately. It's been around 6 years now and this Nutone VX1000 still running great.

  • Noise level

    How noise is this unit comparing to PP650? You have listed the noise level for PP650 but not for this or VX1000C? And which is quieter? VX1000 or VX1000C?

    Thank you for your question. The VX1000 has an internal sound suppression system makes it the quietest power unit in its class. The VX1000 and the VX1000C have the similar sound levels.     The exhaust air on my VX1000 is very hot. What is causing this?

    Thank you for your question on the model VX1000 central cleaning system. The exhaust air is pulled over the two motors to help keep them cooled down. The hot exhaust is normal.

    I want to replace my CV-750 unit with a new one. Cant find it.

    Thank you for your question on the model CV750 central cleaning system. The CV750 is obsolete and no longer available through the factory. You may be able to do an internet search to find someone that still has one or you can get repair parts through the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page. The current replacement for the CV750 would be the VX550.

    4 year old unit

    We have notice a significant black dust - very fine on the top of the unit and covering the white piping...it comes off when whipped but what is it? Is the motor breaking down - it's not used that offend. Thank you

    Unit shuts down and bag full light comes on, but bag is new.

    Unit can be recycled and it works for 15-20 seconds then shuts itself off.
