Rated 5 out of 5 by Product met and beat my expectations The vent fan does everythingI want. My half bath is part of the kitchen area so I needed a fan to quickly move the air out. This fan exhausted the air to my amazement, faster than expected. No need to poison the air with the smell of sulphur or air feshener. Sound level is gentle on the ear. Easy installation. I am very happy with NuTone. March 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Above average Respectable quiet. No problems so far. Works like it should March 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quiet Fan Installed easily in my small powder bathroom. Is very quiet. Be careful when installing the grill. Twice the spring slipped from my grip and broke off two of the louvres. This should be noted in the instructions which were NOT included with my unit. November 23, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The ceiling mount bathroom ventilation fan works well When I needed to replace one of the bathroom ventilation fans in my house I immediately knew I wanted a Nutone based on the reputation for quality. It was easy to install and works very well, leaving the bathroom mirror clean and dry after a shower. February 24, 2013

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the 684NT exhaust fan. I’m sorry, but there is no way to convert this unit to an exhaust fan/light. If you need a light in the unit, you would have to completely change this out to another model.

    Grille Spring for 684NT

The grille spring is too short to attach to the motor plate. Do you have a longer spring?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 684NT. There is only one set of springs to attach the grille to the unit housing of the 684NT. When we hear of the springs being too short, it is usually because the unit housing is not installed properly. The bottom edge of the unit housing needs to be flush with the finished side of the ceiling dry wall. If the unit housing is installed on top of the ceiling dry wall, the springs will be too short to properly hold the grille to the ceiling. Please contact our Technical Support department at 888-336-6151 if you require further assistance.

The specs don't specifically indicate this unit is UL listed as IC, yet the general Q&A for ventilation fans say all Nutone fans can be in contact with insulation.

Is this unit allowed to be in contact with insulation?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 684NT exhaust fan. All of our exhaust fans and exhaust fan/lights are IC rated and can have insulation against the sides and on top of the unit, up to an R40 value. Many of our heaters are also IC rated, but not all of them.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 684NT exhaust fan. The 684NT can handle up to 23 feet of 4 inch, straight, rigid duct work. You would need to reduce that distance by four feet for every elbow installed.
