Rated 3 out of 5 by from What to do when the bell does not chime It has been just over 1 year since we bought this new home with this door chime installed by the builder. On returning home today we found the chime making a continuous low tone buzz (like a transformer coil vibration). After switching off the breaker to which this chime is connected, we removed the cover. On examining we saw no burnt parts or smell, and the plunger freely moved when activated manually. Upon examining the pushbutton of the doorbell, we found it wedged in the pushed position. We extracted the bell push from the wall freeing the pushbutton. Switched the power on and the chime worked as it is supposed to. Hope this helps someone who encounters similar problem. I hope I can catch the monkey who did this!

  • Can I use a 24V 20VA transformer with this model?

I currently have a 16V 10VA transformer. I upgraded to a smart doorbell but the doorbell needs more power in the range of 16V to 24V.
    Asked by: Michael
Thank you for your question on the model BK131LSN door chime. The BK131LSN cannot work on a 24 volt transformer. It must use a 16 volt AC transformer. If you use a 24 volt transformer on the BK131LSN, it will void the warranty and burn out the chime.

Does this come with PB41APB41LA wiring sleeve/pushbutton mount?

if it doesn't, how do you mount the prongs of the pushbutton onto the exterior finished surfaces?

Thank you for your question on the model BK131LSN door chime and PB41APB41LA wiring sleeve for the PB41 stucco push button. The BK131LSN will come with the PB41 push button, but does not come with the PB41APB41LA wiring sleeve. You would need to get that separately.

    Doorbell quit chiming

Is there a way to repair it the doorbell makes a humming noise but no longer chimes found a loose spring not sure where it goes
    Asked by: A
Thank you for your question. The spring allows the plunger to travel back and forth to strike the tone bar. If the spring is damaged you will need to replace the chime kit and doorbell. For further assistance contact Nutone Technical Support at 888-336-6151.

Is there a way to adjust the volume? We just moved into a new house so it is brand new. Mine is so low, you cannot hear it more than 20 ft away.

    Asked by: Theteamster
Thank you for your question. There is no volume control on this 2-note chime. Something that will normally help is to change the transformer (power supply) to one that has a higher wattage or VA rating. Typically, a 16 volt/30 watt transformer will work in this application. If you need further assistance, please contact our Technical Support group at 888-336-6151.

Without the wiring sleeve how are the two protruding prongs used to flush mount the pushbutton?

You ignored this section last time
    Asked by: Nathan
Thank you for your question on the model PB41 stucco door chime push button. While the proper and easiest way to install the PB41 push button is with the wiring sleeve, it would be possible to drill a hole, squeeze the prongs together and slide them into the hole.
