Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery Power Saves This chime will run from four D cells, so your chime will not draw AC power. This is important, because the transformers used with chimes are inefficient and draw power 24x7. With the batteries, power is only drawn when a button is pressed. It is straightforward to switch to this unit to get on battery power, since it will use the same doorbell button wiring already in place. Just remember to disconnect the power-sucking transformer and don't connect the wiring from it to the new chime. Terminal block could be better constructed. Only significant criticism.

  • can you take off cover and paint it?

    Asked by: remodelrita
Thank you for your question on the model LA107WH door chime. You can remove the cover by lifting up on the cover and then pulling away from the wall. There should be no problem painting the cover as long as it is primed properly. We would suggest taking the cover to a larger paint store to get recommendations on primer and paint required.

    LA107 Replacement Recommendation

We have a model LA107 door chime that finally failed after 20+ years. My only complaint with it has been that is louder than we would prefer. Can you suggest a model that is slightly softer? Note: • We have a single door with a bell button. • We want a wired model.

Thank you for your question on the model LA107WH two note door chime. All of the two note chimes will be around the same sound level and they would be the lowest volume chimes we have.

    2 Nutone LA107WH require 2 transformers?

Currently there are two chimes in different parts of the house (one in the original part of the house and another installed in the addition) so that the chimes can be heard through the entire house. Does such an install require two transformers or do u think they are wired to one? Both have wires connected to the front door and transformer terminals. I have bought and will install one video doorbell to replace my existing doorbell. The install instructions state that I need a power kit to also be installed with the video doorbell. If I have one/two transformers do I need one/two power kits or is this a question for the video doorbell company?

Thank you for your question. You do not need to use two separate transformers. You can use either a C909: 16V 20VA, or a C907: 16V 30VA transformer to operate two chimes.
