  • ILFK250 is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as quiet as in-line's are made out to be Just installed the NuTone ILKF250 into new construction and yes you don't hear the motor of the fan because it is not mounted directly on the ceiling like most bath fans are, BUT, what you do hear is the air that it sucks up. With that sound alone, it is pretty much just as loud as having the whole fan mounted directly over the ceiling. Clips to hold the vent in aren't the strongest either. Very disappointed when you take into consideration the cost of the unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Much noisier than expected I have had this setup installed for a several years now. It is very surprisingly noisy. I think the high volume of air coupled with the loud fan unit makes the large racket. If you are going to use this unit, put the fan unit very far away (like 25 feet) and perhaps you'll do better than we did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great fan if you have empty attic above your space, this fan was way easier to install than the standard replacement fan, and it works great. i was glad we got the 250cfm for the larger bathroom. to save time, i originally installed the fan through the old fan's housing, but it was noisier and less efficient with the old ducting. i recommend using the 6 inch ducting, because it is much quieter. i will say the visible plastic vent is a little cheap looking and not as sleek looking as the picture, which shows it fully closed. all in all good product and much cheaper than any other location.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exhaust fan The fan itself is excellent. The only issue I had was with the defuser. I had to add a layer of plywood above the ceiling sheetrock to get the defuser spring clips to grab. Other than that, it is a great product and I would install it in my own house.

Can the Ilfk250 be used to exhaust a wet sauna.(not a steam bath)

    Asked by: kevin
Thank you for your question on the model ILFK250 in-line exhaust fan. We do not have any products that we would recommend for using with a wet sauna. You may want to check with the manufacturer of the sauna for a recommendation for an exhaust fan.

    ILF250 mounting screws

The ILF250 installation kit includes a package with 8 1" screws and 3 1/2" screws. Figure 1. in the installation instructions appears to show long screws mounting the bracket to the fan body. It looks to me like those long screws would interfere with the fan impeller. Which screws in the installation kit should be used to mount the fan body to the bracket: the long ones, or the short ones?
    Asked by: marty
Thank you for your question on the model ILF250 in-line exhaust fan. The small screws are used to connect the body of the fan to the mounting bracket. The longer screws are to be used to attach the mounting bracket to your joist.
