Rated 1 out of 5 by from heater cuts off after minutes the ceiling installed unit has performed well for about 2 weeks. Put in to replace a 12 year old other brand and the nutone has been a disappointing heater. vent fan works okay but we need the heater in cold weather, the bathroom is in a basement. I am replacing with another brand after a few years of messing with this and having no permanent repair or fix to the nutone. Don't waste your time and money with this poorly engineered product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this new model has bad heater I bought this unit to replace the same existing model that the heater wasn't performing well. i installed the new unit. After 4 days the heater stopped working. the new heater has a plastic housing that melted and the fan stopped turning because the fan was hitting the housing. i contacted the warranty dept. they sent me another heater assembly to install. this one has melted some, so the heater is still woking at this time. the old one had a metal housing. i wish the new model had a metal housing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Combo Fan We needed 10 of these for a special needs HUD project. The architect had specified a unit that no longer was made. We were so glad to use these! Quiet, nice looking and built like a brick outhouse! Every component from the 1500w heater coil to the included on/off switches are Industrial Quality. And all can be replaced individually should a failure occur. If you want one to last forever this is it.

  • To clean this unit and replace a bulb: Your answer previous "push the tabs" is not clear. Do you push up or towards the lens or away from the lens?

    Asked by: Mac
I found out that it will open easily if you insert two table knives or flat blade screwdrivers in the tabs, and push them toward the bezel glass.

How does one open the grille to change the light bulb?

I have done this before, but can't seem to do it now. I pushed the 2 tabs and tried to pull -- maybe, that isn't the technique to use. Can someone tell me how to open the grille to change the light bulb?

Why is it so difficult to open the area to change the light bulb? I cannot get it open - any suggestions besides breaking it?!

Those tabs do not release anything - it seems to be stuck - the fixture is only a few years old - maybe 4. I will break it if necessary and hopefully will be able to get a replacement light cover. Is this available?

Is there another fan unit that has the same housing dimension as this unit, It does not necessarily need a heater

    Asked by: bob
Thank you for your question on the model 9965 exhaust fan/heater/light/night light. The 9965 is still being manufactured, so that would be the best replacement. The next best replacement would be the 668RP which is an exhaust fan/light. The 9965 ceiling cutout is 9-3/4” x 14” and the 668RP cutout is 7-3/8” x 14-5/8”. You would have a small amount of ceiling patching.
