• XN50L is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Motor, moves lots of air Installed in a retrofit installation on a smaller 4" exhaust duct (adapter included in box). Overall, the installation went smoothly and fan operates as intended. In fact it pushes so much air that the 4" duct is limiting it a bit. Noticed some rattling/squeaking noise over the course of a month but just greased the installation bracket where it made contact with the fan "box" and noise is gone. Only negative is the weird lamp socket but it's not the main bathroom light so, not a big concern. Very happy with this purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick removal of moisture. Very satisfied with the quick removal of moisture from the bathroom when taking a shower. No fogging of the mirror. The noise level was higher than we thought it would be for the fan, but overall satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bathroom fan and fluorescent light with 50 CFM This fan was purchased to replace an existing very loud fan. We are so glad that we purchased this Nutone fan. It is very quite and the lighting is much better then what we had.

• With the XN80L, can I connect to 4" inch duct and what is the CFM and noise impact?

Asked by: 975j
You can connect to 4" duct, in fact there is an adapter included in the box. Not sure on exact CFM and noise values but you can probably find that in the online spec sheet. http://www.nutone.com/common/productDigitalAssethandler.ashx?id=b7f66b9d-462b-4330-b22c-7377901b5999 I have this exact installation and noticed some restriction from the duct but i also have an inline fire baffle that limits flow. If I were to do it again i would go with the XN50 line but that all will depend on your specific situation and size of bathroom, etc.

Is there a back draft damper in the xn50L

Asked by: acyrier
Thank you for your question on the model XN50L exhaust fan/light. The XN50L does have a back draft damper included in the duct adapter that is attached to the side of the unit housing.

Sizing for shower stall

I have a shower stall that's 45" wide X 30" deep X 84" tall (66 cubic ft) with glass sliding doors. The doors are 78" tall so that leaves just an 8" opening across the top 45" length of the shower doors. I'm looking at the Ultra series exhaust fans with light. My question is which should I go for? The 50, 80 or 110 CFM model? Currently there is no fan in that shower and water is heavily condensing on the 8" of drywall about the shower stall and it's wrecking the paint.
Asked by: Scott
Thank you for your question on the bath and ventilation fans. When you size a fan for the bathroom, you size it for the whole room, not just the shower stall. Take the square footage of the room and multiply by 1.07. This will give you the minimum CFM for the room. Optimum CFM would be 1.5 – 2 times the minimum. Does this model replace model 763RL?

Need to replace an old exhaust fan/light combo unit. The plastic covering the light burned. The following is the information printed inside the unit: Model 763RL "B" Unit, 120V 60 Hz 1.4 AMPS For use with models 763RL/769RL 'A' Unit Only Type 1C - inherently protected 50CFM 2.5 sones

Thank you for your question on the model 763RL exhaust fan/light. The 763RLN is still being made, so there is no replacement for it. There were two versions of the 763RLN and they had different grilles and light lenses. Both versions of the grille and lens are still available through the factory. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 888-336-6151 for assistance.

How do I remove the cover to the light source on a newly installed bathroom fan

Asked by: Bill
Thank you for your interest in our products. We appreciate your business. The lens can be ‘snapped’ out of this unit. To see the best way to do that, you will want to view page 11 of the installation instructions. It will clearly show you that you use a screw driver (or a butter knife) to gently get the tab to unhook. This will then expose the light bulb and reflector. Thanks, again.
