Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed.... still loud We still use the original 15 year old 696 B Unit fan and has always been loud. I finally bought the 690NT Upgrade because it is easy to install and is supposed to be 3 sone instead of 4 sone. I don't believe I can tell any difference in the sound level and will be looking for a better one. NO WAY IS THIS 50% QUIETER as the box says. Also, I had to go back to Home Depot to return the first unit because the holes were drilled incorrectly in the large mounting plate. The replacement was drilled properly and installed easily to the motor. The plastic deflector strip could not be installed either as the directions show.... No tabs in my square box at all. So, I drilled holes in the box for screwing thru the two slotted holes in the plastic strip and mounted them. It still made no difference in sound level either way. I would have been better off buying a completely new style 'quiet' fan. March 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is a breeze to assemble and install. Product replaced my model 688 Broan installed 23 years prior. Product is quieter than the old and the price is fair March 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Upgrade I purchased this fan upgrade because my bathroom fan became extremely noisey over time. This product was a direct replacement for my current fan and was easily installed with common hand tools. Installation instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. It has been quite some time since the upgrade and I have not had any issues with this product despite the heavy usage(2-3 Hrs per Day). February 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by What a wonderful upgrade I purchased the 690NT Fan Upgrade kit to replace ours that started making noise and the instructions and install was very easy. Definitely a do it yourself kit. Fan now is much quieter than the original ever was. So far product is satisfactory and plan on replacing the other fan just for the lower noise level. February 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product relly lived up to expectations! This upgrade unit advertised more flow and quitter operation with easy installation. It only took about 20 minutes to install including cleaning of the mounting box. My box did not have the tabs to clip in the plastic flow barrier but it fit in and stayed in without the tabs. I used a 4" flexible discharge to the roof vent. This bathroom fan went from very noisy to quitter than my much more expensive new fan I installed at the same time in my other bathroom. Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy to install. Quiet and more efficient than the unit it replaced. February 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great upgrade for venting in our Bathroom Compared to our former vent - this is so much better. We barely get steam on the mirror anymore and it is quiet sounding. We are not handy people when it comes to installations - but, we did install it our selves and it is working great. We only had one problem in the installation: the vent movable valve was hard to keep in place so we just removed it. We have not noticed any cold air coming down the vent and we thought that might happen since we live in Minnesota. February 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great upgrade Upgrade kit was easy to install. It took me half a hour to install. It is moe quiet then the original fan. February 6, 2015

Thank you for your question on the model C-350C2 exhaust fan. The 690NT is not designed to be used with the C-350C2. You must use the C350BN.

    Answer:
I successfully installed the 690NT upgrade kit into my C-350C2-B. Everything fit perfectly, except my old housing didn't have the tabs to hold the plastic sheet in place, to help direct the airflow.

    Hi,
I want to upgrade my 30-year old NuTone bathroom exhaust unit with a replacement motor kit. My exhaust far looks like a 690-type, but the fan is a propeller type. The replacement product seems to come with only a squirrel cage (round) fan.

Is that the correct replacement for my old motor/fan unit?

    Thank you.

    Answer:
The "squirrel cage" will move twice the air per rotation of the motor drive. You will like the result. Make sure mounting box does not obstruct the vent. My old one was poorly installed. Glad I corrected it.

Fan quit running. Unit is over 30 years old. Tag says: "695P B unit, use with 690AP A units only. 1.5 amp, 70 CFM". It has a squirrel cage fan. Housing measures 8" x 7-1/4". What should I order? Is there any kind of upgrade available?

Thank you for the question on the 695P. I’m sorry, but the motor is no longer available for this unit and there are no replacements. You will need to completely remove the current unit and replace it with another model.

    Answer:
This unit come with two brackets to match the two common box sizes: the 7 1/2 x 7 1/4, and the 8 x 7 1/4. this is a nice quiet unit that moves lots of air, if your vent is not obstructed. My builder mounted the box to obstruct the vent. Brilliant!. I installed this upgrade a year ago. EZ. Quiet and efficient.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 690NT exhaust fan. If you currently have a Mercury model 690, the 690NT will not work with this model. The replacement power unit assembly (motor mounting bracket, motor and blower wheel) for this model would be the C350BN and you can get it through the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page.

I bought and installed the nutone 690NT. It was the same model that was previously installed. The new one also has an A after the 690NT as listed on the fan.
